Refund policy

At ModernMate, we take pride in the quality of our products and want you to have an enjoyable experience with every purchase. Please inspect your items upon receipt, and if you wish to return an item, please keep the original packaging. We'll do our best to assist you.
  

GENERAL RETURN REQUIREMENTS

  • Return Window: Returns must be made within 30 days of receiving your item.
  • Return Costs: The customer is responsible for return shipping costs.
  • Condition of Items: Only unused and unopened items are eligible for return, and all items must be returned in their original packaging.
  • Receipt & Labels: Please keep your receipt and all product labels for the return process.
  • Unauthorized Returns: We do not accept returns for items that have not been pre-approved through our return process.

NON-RETURNABLE ITEMS

  • Custom & Personalized Items: This includes custom furniture, personalized décor, gift cards, and other made-to-order products.
  • Clearance & Final Sale Items: Items marked as "Final Sale" or heavily discounted clearance items.
  • Used or Installed Products: Mattresses, assembled items, and items showing signs of wear and tear due to normal use.
  • Accessories & Replacement Parts: Items like sofa covers, cushions, etc.

WHEN RETURNS ARE NOT ACCEPTED

  • Customer Damaged Items: Items that are not in new condition due to customer damage or misuse will not be accepted for return.
  • Delivery Failures Due to Space Limitations: If delivery fails due to space constraints, we are unable to accept a return. Customers are responsible for ensuring that the product fits in their space and can be safely delivered and received.
  • Assembly Issues: We are not responsible for any damage or injury resulting from failure to follow assembly instructions.
  • Overdue Return Requests: Returns must be requested within the specified time frame.
  • Consumer-Caused Returns: The consumer shall be responsible for the shipping fee, which is subject to the rates of the selected express company.
  • Seller-Caused Returns: If the received goods are damaged or incorrect due to our reasons, the consumer is not required to bear the corresponding shipping fee.

EXCHANGES

  • If you want to exchange an item after receiving it, please ensure the product meets the return criteria (unused, undamaged, and in its original packaging). Please contact our customer service to initiate the return process and then place a new order for the replacement product. Except for damages or errors caused by us, the return shipping cost for exchanges is the customer's responsibility.

CAN I CANCEL OR MODIFY MY ORDER?
  • Cancel Orders: You can cancel unshipped orders at no cost. Once items have been shipped, you cannot cancel the order, but you can return the item after it arrives, and the customer is responsible for the return shipping costs as per the above return policy.
  • Modify Orders: You can modify your order (shipping address, billing address, name, phone, email) if it hasn’t been shipped. For orders already shipped, address changes will incur additional shipping and service fees, which will be your responsibility. Please pay the shipping cost difference through the secure payment link we send you. If the extra shipping fees are not paid, the order will be delivered to the original address, and we will not be responsible for any return or delivery issues.
  • To request changes or cancellations, please contact customer service with your order number, recipient name, and other relevant details. We cannot guarantee order modifications or cancellations until we confirm the request with you.
  • Custom and Special Orders cannot be canceled or modified after confirmation.

WHAT IF MY ITEM ARRIVES DAMAGED?

  • Please inspect your items upon delivery. If you find any damage, please report it to us within 3 business days. Items not reported within the time frame will not be accepted for return. At ModernMate, we take pride in our quality, and if your item is damaged or defective in rare circumstances, please contact us at support@modernmate.net as soon as possible, and we’ll make it right.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY REFUND?

  • After we receive your returned item, we will inspect the condition and packaging. If everything is in order, your refund will be processed within 10 business days and credited to your original payment method.
  • The refunded amount includes the product price and taxes (subject to local laws).
  • Please note that items not returned in original packaging or items that are not in resalable condition may incur restocking or re-packaging fees.
  • Depending on your credit card provider, it may take up to 10 business days for the refund to appear in your balance. If your original payment method is no longer valid, we are happy to offer a store credit voucher of equal value to the refund amount.
